My Top 5 Housecleaning Tools

Let’s talk tools.  Everyone has their favorite go-to items when it comes to cleaning. These are my top 5 essentials.

My O-Cedar ProMist Microfiber Spray Mop.  I used to use a different type of mop system, but I hated buying the refills and the pads to just throw them away.  I’m all about saving money.  This mop rocks my socks.  My husband thinks I’m crazy, getting excited about this, but HE doesn’t mop the floors.  The features that I love the most are the microfiber pad, which is machine washable, and you can use your own cleaning solution.  You only need 2 tablespoons of cleaner added to the water.  That could be a huge savings over time.

Tuff-Scrub 2 in 1 Microfiber Sponge . I just came across this recently and I LOVE IT.  I use it mainly for my surface scrubbing in my kitchen, counters and appliances.  The scrubbing side really does get the tough things without scratching and the microfiber side is perfect for a quick wipe.   And it’s machine washable!!!!!   You can even put it in the dishwasher.   No more icky, gross sponges for me.

Rubber Cleaning Gloves. I have a pair for dishes, a pair for general cleaning, and one specifically for the bathrooms.  They save my nails from getting destroyed, I can moisture my hands while doing the dishes, and they work great picking up pet hair from furniture.  Instead of pulling out a vacuum, just wipe a dry glove over the fur and it picks it right up.

Pipe Cleaners.  I use these all the time, especially to clean the straws from our reusable water bottles.  They are so small and flexible they fit into the crevices you usually miss while wiping with your average cloth, so for detail cleaning they are perfect.

Finally, my mini vacuum.  I use a BLACK+DECKER Flex .  There are so many out there to choose from.  I have 3 flights of stairs in my home and a bad back.  This is a life saver for me.   No lugging a big vacuum up and down and  It’s rechargeable, so no cord to worry about.

I chose this one because it has an attachment for pets.  We have 3 cats, so it comes in handy.
