This is the third post in my list series.  Something I need to work on, are my bedtime habits.  My morning routine is super simple, and my cleaning schedule is something I’ve followed for a few years now.  This was a tough list to do for me.  While most of it looks easy, the sleeping and winding down part is hard.  I suffer from insomnia so there are literally nights I don’t fall asleep at all.  These habits should help the transition to sleep mode.  Let’s take a look at my evening routine.

First thing I always do is get the dishes done and wipe the counters.  If needed, I will sweep or spot mop.  Nothing is more depressing than waking up to a messy kitchen.

20 Minute Tidy is essential in keeping my house neat.  I have a large Utility Tote that I use, but use what you have.  Anything that doesn’t belong where it’s left goes into the tote and relocated.  Using the tote saves me trips up and down the stairs.  This is when my sons bring any glasses or dishes from their den or game room, and load into the dishwasher.

Set up coffee maker.  This is a no-brainer here.  We love our coffee.

I am starting to have herbal tea to help me wind down, usually Chamomile.   While I am enjoying my tea,  I check my planner for anything coming up the next day.

Time to go upstairs and get ready for bed.

My hygiene routine is usually a shower with lavender body wash, brush my teeth and any facial treatments like moisturizer or a mask.

I like to lay my clothes out for the next day.  I don’t want to wake my husband digging through drawers or the closet in the morning.  He works nights, and it’s like waking a sleeping bear.  LOL

I try, TRY, to turn of my phone around 30 minutes before I want to sleep.  I have an app on my phone that turns my phone off on a timer, so I can listen to relaxation music or sleep meditation.  I did remove the television from our bedroom, and that has worked wonders.  I also use an essential oil blend called Good Night, which I got in a Best Blends Set, or plain Lavender.
